A surface mount type capacitor having an anode section with an anode portion (11) and first and second leads (12, 13), a cathode section including a cathode portion (41a, 41b), first and second anode terminals (81, 82), a cathode terminal (70), and a metal member (65) and where the capacitor further includes an additional terminal (91, 92) electrically connected to the metal member (65) and arranged to be connected to an object (200) to which the capacitor is to be mounted. The object may be a PCB, substrate. The additional terminal may alternatively have one or four points of connection to the metal member and the mounting surface of the object. The metal member acts as a shield and the capacitor may be used as a noise filter. |
