The adaptor has a receiving surface (32) for the telescope (12) and an elastic band (40) for fixing the telescope to the receiving surface. The receiving surface is at least partially arch-shaped, e.g. convex, or in a circular arch shape of radius 60 mm. A rubber coating may be provided to prevent slippage. An independent claim is included for a binocular telescope.
