The lamp has a lamp base and an axially symmetrical discharge vessel (30), whose discharge space provided with an ionizable filling is arranged for producing a gas discharge. Transparent frosting (37) is formed as partial frosting of the vessel in a region of the space. The frosting is limited to a section of inside or outside of the vessel extending over a part of the vessel circumference. An independent claim is also included for a method of producing a high-pressure discharge lamp.
