The extending load support for car boots is made up of hinged boards (2a, 2b, 2c, 2d). The boards are prevented from sliding when in use by a locking system (4) comprising swiveling arms on the board with high friction surfaces on their ends which cooperate with counter-surfaces attached to the boot floor.
