<p>A catamenial tampon for absorbing body fluids comprising fibrous absorbent material and at least one anionic surfactant. The preferred anionic surfactants are sodium alkyl aryl ethoxy sulphate, alkylalkoxylated phosphate ester sodium salt, dioctylester of sodium sulfosuccinic acid, dioctyl sulfosuccinate, ammonium salt of polycarboxylic acid, potassium salt of complex organic phosphate ester, ammonium lauryl ether sulfate or combinations thereof. The tampon is suitable for absorbing bodily fluids and comprises an effective amount of the anionic surfactant, which acts to adsorb malodour associated with these bodily fluids. Alternatively, the use of said tampon to treat vaginal malodour.</p> |
