The invention is directed to a method for introducing compensating material (20) into a tire/wheel assembly (10). The compensating material is provided in a self-contained batch (30, 40) to facilitate shipping and handling. Upon insertion of the batch of compensating material within the tire and subseque nt rotation of the tire, the batch disperses throughout the interior of the tir e to compensate for radial and lateral force variations at the tire/road footprint of the tire/wheel assembly. The self-contained batch can take the form of an agglomerate (30), or may be sealed within a rupturable bag (40).< /SDOAB>
