The method for assessing the quality of the material used for the individual dental-gingival protectors comprises the measurement and the sequential qualitative dichotomic analysis of the physical-and-mechanical properties of the suitable prepared specimens. The quality is assessed taking into account the water adsorption percentage measured in the different steps of the clinical use of the individual dental-gingival protectors. For the quantitative assessment the following formula is used: QIDGP=-(I1/I0 + S1/S0+ K1/K0àN1/N0)ò ??IDGP??log2??IDGP, where QIDGP û the generalized quality index of the material used for the individual dental-gingival protectors; I0, S0, K0, N0 û the normative values of the physical-and-mechanical parameters; I1, S1, K1, N1 û the actual values of the physical-and-mechanical parameters; N û the total number of the assessed physical-and-mechanical parameters; ??IDGP û the water adsorption percentage of the material in the steps of the manufacture or the clinical use of the individual dental-gingival protectors. When QIDGP > 0, the satisfactory quality of the material is inferred and vice versa.
