PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce vibration and operating sound of a screw mechanism of a ball screw or the like. SOLUTION: A ball screw 60 includes: a screw shaft 24; and a nut 26 engaged with the screw shaft. The nut 26 can be divided into a first member 26a and a second member 26b, which are fitted to constitute the nut 26. The fitting surface of the first member 26a and the second member 26b is provided with a space 64 formed for storing a pre-load applying means. The pre-load applying means applies forces in the opposite directions to the first member 26a and the second member 26b in the axial direction of the screw shaft to apply pre-load to the nut 26.
