PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve working efficiency of operating angle adjustment necessary between cylinders when a variable valve system is actually mounted to a plurality of cylinders, and easily and promptly perform the adjustment. SOLUTION: The variable valve system is provided with a first interposed arm 10, a second interposed arm 20, a rotating cam 7 and a control means performing slide control of the second interposed arm 20. The control means includes a control shaft 27, a projecting part 28 projecting from the control shaft 27 and rotatably pivoting a base end part of the second interposed arm 20, and a lift control device for performing small angle rotation control of the control shaft 27, and is provided with an operating angle adjustment mechanism adjusting an operating angle of a valve 9 by changing a relative position of the base end part of the second interposed arm 20 with respect to the projecting part 28. The operating angle adjustment mechanism comprises an eccentric support shaft 33 which includes a base shaft 34 relatively rotatably inserted into a hole 32 of the projecting part 28 and adjustment shafts 35, 36 eccentrically connected to the base shaft 34 and rotatably inserted into holes 25, 26 of the second interposed arm 20; and a fixation nut 41.
