<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil seal 1, for suppressing early abrasion of a foreign matter seal 5 caused by metal powder E such as cutting powder contained in seal fluid A to elongate a service life of the seal. <P>SOLUTION: The oil seal 1 comprises: a main seal 4 slidably and closely contact with a mating member such as a shaft 3; and the foreign matter seal 5 disposed on a seal fluid A side of the main seal 4 to be slidably and closely contact with the mating member such as a shaft 3. The foreign matter seal 5 has a mounting ring 9 attached to the main seal 4, and a seal lip 10a supported by the mounting ring 9.
