<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the degree of freedom of layout by setting priority to a container in a variable size for storing the contents of records. <P>SOLUTION: A template can be provided with at least two containers and a link 1407 relating them. The link 1407 constantly limits a distance between containers. The container whose priority order is higher is displayed with an arrow icon 1406 to show the priority order of the containers. When data to be packed in each container can not be stored in the container at the time of executing the layout of records by the template, the variable sizes of side of the container whose priority order is higher are moved, and the container size is extended according to the contents size. Then, the other container associated by a link 1407 is extended or reduced within the restriction of its distance with the container whose priority order is higher by the link 1407. In this case, the already decided container size whose priority order is higher is not changed.
