<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the situation wherein streams cannot be normally decoded, and reproduction is forcibly completed, or erroneous reproduction is performed, because an error occurs in a portion where the kind of streams changes, in performing decoding processing for streams in which a plurality of kinds of streams coexist in a conventional stream decoding device. <P>SOLUTION: For a stream inputted from a signal input section 301 to a synchronization word analyzer 302, a synchronization word is searched by the analyzer 302 to confirm that the pattern of the analyzed synchronization word matches the pattern of a decodable synchronization word. If the synchronization word is detected, a decoding device switch 306 selectively outputs the synchronization word to a header analyzer 303 corresponding to the kind of the detected synchronization word. A decoding processor 304 applies decoding processing to one frame using the analyzed header information, and a signal output section 305 outputs the frame.
