PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage regulator (V/R) having high-speed responsiveness with low current consumption and stably operable with a low output capacity. SOLUTION: This voltage regulator comprises a reference voltage circuit connected between a power source and a ground; a voltage dividing circuit composed of a breeder resistance dividing output voltage supplied to an external load; and a differential amplifier comparing the output of the reference voltage circuit with the output of the voltage dividing circuit and outputting first signal. The voltage regulator further comprises a MOS transistor in which the output of the differential amplifier is grounded to the source of the following stage; a constant current circuit connected between the MOS transistor and the ground; and an output transistor connected between the power source of the voltage dividing circuit, in which a second signal outputted from the drain of the MOS transistor is connected to a gate electrode of the following stage through a phase compensating resistance and a capacitance connected in parallel to each other.
