PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for a liquid crystal display panel which is accurately aligned by being provided with an alignment mark for aligning and which certainly prevents light leakage from a region in the vicinity of the alignment mark, and to provide the liquid crystal display panel which is accurately aligned with a case and easily contained therein by using the substrate and of which the lowering of display quality due to light leakage is significantly suppressed. SOLUTION: The first alignment mark 15a, which is a negative pattern of a black mask pattern, composed of an area on which no black mask layer 15 material is adhered, is formed on a corner part around a display region Dv surrounded by the black mask layer 15 on an opposite side surface of a glass substrate 11 where the black mask layer 15 of the liquid crystal display panel Lp, constructed by placing a pair of glass substrates 11, 12 opposite to each other, is disposed, and a light shielding film 22 is disposed on an area of the other glass substrate 12 opposite to the first alignment mark 15a.
