PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short-circuit defect correcting method of correcting a short-circuit defect occurring to a display substrate. SOLUTION: This short-circuit defect correcting method is a method of correcting the short-circuit defect occurring to the display substrate. The display substrate is equipped with an intersection line part crossing a data signal line and at least one electrode and has at least one opening part formed in the intersection area where the intersection line part and data signal line cross each other, and one end of at least one opening part is disposed on the opposite side from the other end of the at least one opening part about the data signal line. If the short-circuit defect occurs to a short-circuit defect area as at least a portion of the intersection area, the portion of the intersection area is cut passing one end of at least the one opening part and the other part of the intersection area is cut passing at least the other end of at least the one opening part so that the short-circuit defect area is positioned between the other part of the intersection area and the cut portion of the intersection area.
