PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety cooling device of a freezer free from the concern about burn injury and smoking in accompany with defrosting motion, and preventing a hand from touching an air blower. SOLUTION: This freezer comprises the cooling device wherein a cooler 1 and the air blower 2 are accommodated inside of a heat insulating wall 20 opened at its lower face, a dew receiving pan 21 is mounted at a lower part of the cooler 1, and a heater for defrosting 10 and a heater 11 for heating the dew receiving pan are mounted for heating the cooler and the dew receiving pan, the freezer 12 provided with the cooling device at an upper outer side, having a blowout port 12b and a suction port 12a communicating with the opening of the lower face of the cooling device on its ceiling face, and defining a freezing chamber inside, an underframe 17 mounted around the blowout port and the suction port on the ceiling face of the freezer for mounting the cooling device on an upper face of the freezer, connection plates 23, 24 for fixing the cooler and the air blower of the cooling device, and heat insulating plates 25 mounted between each of upper parts of the connecting plates and the underframe 17 for connecting them.
