PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent scums from adhering to an encoder scale extending to a long period of time at a low cost. SOLUTION: A roof section 32B is integrally molded at the upper section of the encoder scale 32 to show a structure that the side surface 32A is hidden by the roof section 32B as viewed from the top. Therefore, the structure wherein an ink mist does not adhere to the side surface 32A even if the ink mist is poured onto the upper surface 32C of the roof section 32B is provided. Thus, the interruption of an accurate control resulting from the generation of a defective detection due to the adhesion of the ink mist 52 and 54 onto a transmissible section 40 on the side surface 32A of the encoder scale 32 is prevented from occurring.
