PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve processability with an increase in apparatus cost suppressed to the utmost. SOLUTION: An image data processing apparatus for an inkjet type printing apparatus forms data sent out to an inkjet head from luster image data. In this apparatus, a data arrangement converting circuit 51 rearranging the luster image data inputted under a luster scanning condition so that image data of pixel dots continuously formed by one ink discharging nozzle are continuously rearranged, a converting buffer memory 52 for storing the rearranged image data, and a memory controller 54 for controlling writing and reading out to the converting buffer memory 52 are provided. The memory controller 54 divides addresses of the converting buffer memory 52 into a plurality of basic groups, and switches an operation designating successively the addresses over the basic groups, and an operation continuously designating the addresses in the basic groups to perform writing or reading out.
