PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reclining chair capable of obtaining sufficient strength at a part to which large loads are to be applied at a low cost by using a metal plate for a support base, being easily manufactured, and further contributing to separation disposal. SOLUTION: A support base 3 comprises: a support base 17 provided with a through-hole 17a through which the upper part of a post 2 is passed on a rear part and also provided with upward side pieces 17b and a rear piece 17c on both sides of the rear part and a rear end; and an upper surface plate 19 where both side edges are fixed to the inner surface of both side pieces 17b at the rear part of the support base 17, a fitting hole 20 to which the upper end part of the post 2 is fitted is provided on the center part, side pieces 19b suspended from both sides are extended to the rear part through the rear piece 17c of the support base 17, and one end part of a gas spring energizing a backrest forward is supported at the extension part.
