The invention concerns an objective ( 1 ) for an observation device ( 10 ), which comprises a first optical subcomponent ( 11, 14 ) on the object side and a second, optical subcomponent ( 12, 15 ), whereby the second optical subcomponent ( 12, 15 ) is arranged at a distance (d 2 ) to the first optical subcomponent ( 11, 14 ) on the optical axis of the objective, and one of the subcomponents ( 12, 14 ) possesses a positive refractive power and the other subcomponent ( 11, 15 ) possesses a negative refractive power, which is hereby characterized in that the objective ( 1 ) has a zooming device. In addition, the invention concerns a microscope, which contains such an objective. Finally, a method for adjusting an objective ( 1 ) of an observation device ( 10 ) is provided with the invention, wherein the objective ( 1 ) has at least three optical subcomponents ( 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 ) on a common optical axis and the subcomponents ( 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 ) are disposed at distances (d 1 , d 2 ) relative to one another, characterized in that for adjusting the focal intercept (s) of the objective ( 1 ), one of the distances (d 2 ) between two adjacent subcomponents ( 11, 12, 14, 15 ) is varied and the other distance (d 1 ) is kept constant.
