The tile includes a tile plate (2). At least one illuminating device (7), such as a light-emitting diode, is provided, so that the light from it is directed onto the underside of the tile plate. The tile plate is made of a transparent material such as glass. The tile plate may be sand-blasted to ensure even and efficient scattering of light.
