Data collection procedure to measure vehicle's energy or fuel consumption by measuring time elapsed between engine start up and journey start, journey end and engine switch off

The process to collect data measuring an engine-powered vehicles's energy consumption involves measuring the time elapsed from engine start-up (100) to start of the journey(110). At the end of the journey (120) the time until the engine switching off (130) or the beginning of a new journey is measured. These times are stored and used to measure energy consumption by a transmission control device. The total time span (300) is calculated by adding the time from the start to end of the process.
