<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single person abnormality detecting method which can more accurately detect the abnormality of health conditions of a single person such as an elderly person living alone. <P>SOLUTION: In a house A, there is installed a data transmitter 2 for detecting abnormality provided with a watt-hour meter 23 for measuring the total consumption of power and a data transmitting section 26 for sensing abnormality for simultaneously transmitting, by radio, time-series data on the total consumption of power measured by the watt-hour meter 23. In a monitoring center, there is installed a monitoring device 4 which has a data transmission/reception section 42 for receiving the time-series data on the total consumption of power transmitted from the data transmitter 2 for detecting abnormality, and, based on the received time-series data on the total consumption of power, detects the abnormality of the single person.
