PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: although an ultraviolet-shielding wavelength close to a theoretical value is expected to be obtained because zinc oxide is a direct transition semiconductor, the application of zinc oxide to a sunscreen material is limited because recombination luminescence due to exciton occurs even at room temperature. SOLUTION: When a metallic material which can easily form an oxide and is easily vaporized is utilized as an electrode for generating plasma, the oxide is easily vaporized from the surface of the electrode by an exothermic reaction.
