<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise load supporting property in an artificial vertebral pulp disk made of a PVA hydrogel. <P>SOLUTION: The artificial vertebral pulp disk made of the polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel is for performing prosthesis of the vertebral pulp of the intervertebral disk, and has two upper and lower sliding faces arranged mutually nearly back to back which slide with the vertebral body cartilage and side faces arranged between these sliding faces.
