<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst capable of efficiently absorbing SOx. <P>SOLUTION: In the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst consisting of a catalyst carrying layer, a noble metal catalyst carried on the catalyst carrying layer and an SOx absorbent, the catalyst carrying layer exhibits the distribution of high and low holding power of sulfate such that a relatively low part of holding power of sulfate and a relatively high part of holding power of sulfate exist, the noble metal catalyst is carried on the relatively low part of holding power of sulfate, and the SOx oxidized by the noble metal catalyst is diffused to the relatively high part of holding power of sulfate to be fixed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
