PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the confidentiality of data compression in connection with a data compression method for generating a compressed data string from a data string to be compressed. SOLUTION: A scrambled value is provided (14) to the head of the data string to be compressed and the data are compressed (16) by using the dynamic variable length coding. The compressed data with high randomness can be produced and object data can simply be randomized. That is, it is not required to share a common initial value at both the production side and the restoration side and the processing is easy, and this method is effective to reduce the processing time.
