PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module that easily and securely realizes airtight sealing of an optical receptacle and a fiber stub and has superior long-period reliability. SOLUTION: The optical receptacle 10 comprises a holder 5 which has a 1st through hole 5a formed, the fiber stub 1 constituted by inserting and fixing an optical fiber 3 in a 2nd through hole 2a formed in the center of a ferrule 2 and inserting and fixing a portion in the 1st through hole 5a from a rear end side, and a sleeve 4 holding a plug ferrule 11 where a portion of the fiber stub 1 is inserted and held from a tip end side and which abuts against the tip end surface 1a of the fiber stub 1; and a recessed space 7 is formed of a rear end surface 1b of the fiber stub 1 and the 1st through hole 5a, the optical fiber 3 of the fiber stub 1 is extended into the recessed space 7 from the rear end surface 1b, and an airtight sealing material 8 is charged in the recessed space 7.
