PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight tank as a fuel tank for automobile. SOLUTION: The fuel tank is made of high strength steel sheet having≥300 MPa to≤650 MPa strength S. The S satisfies a relational expression S=(YS+TS)/2, wherein YS is a yielding strength and TS is a tensile strength. Or, the fuel tank is made of a steel plate having 2 to 20% volume rate of retained austenite as the high strength steel sheet. The invention results in an extremely superior effect in industry as a fuel tank for automobile can be made light in weight, which is effective to reduce fuel consumption.
