PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent contamination by impurities such as iron from a reaction vessel and to accelerate a reduction reaction, and to provide a method for manufacturing metallic titanium by which a reaction by-product is easily removed. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing metallic titanium includes a reduction step of obtaining metal titanium by reducing titanium dichloride or titanium trichloride as raw material with metal magnesium or a magnesium alloy using a reaction vessel 2 made of titanium.
