<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color-readable image processor which dispenses with wasteful processing by a user at the time of processing an image read according to a reading mode. <P>SOLUTION: This image processor comprises a reading means reading a document; a reading mode selection means selecting, at the time of reading the document by the reading means, a color mode or a monochromatic mode for reading; a data transfer means transferring data or a command read by the reading means to an external processor; and an interface means connecting with the external processor.
