<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strictly manage licenses without fear that data which need to be licensed might be unlawfully used, even when a communication failure occurs, in the constitution of the image forming device using the data after acquiring the data from a server. <P>SOLUTION: In this image forming system, the server 30 and each of printers 10 are able to communicate with each other, and a printer 10 acquires the data which need to be licensed, whenever used, from the server 30 and uses the data. Under this constitution, when it is confirmed that the communications between the server 30 and each of the printers 10 have failed(the case wherein the printer 10 cannot detect a normal response from the server 30), the data which need to be licensed and stored in a storage means(RAM 18) are erased.
