<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a solid polymer fuel cell having a low contact resistance with an electrode part, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell separator made by forming a composition containing a conductive material and a resin does not have a membrane of the resin, and is a solid polymer fuel cell separator characterized by having a surface roughness of less than 1.5 μm when measured using a 4 μm front end diameter probe. The separator for solid polymer fuel cell is manufactured by forming the above composition in a desired shape, then, removing the membrane layer of the formed body by grinding the surface of the formed body by a polishing substance, and then removing the remaining abrasive material and polishing powder from the roughened surface.
