<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve mountability of a disc brake on a vehicle by changing a parking brake mechanism to a hydraulic drive system to dispense with the arrangement of a metal cable. <P>SOLUTION: In the disc brake provided with a pair of pads 2, 3 mounted on both sides of a disc rotor 1 and a caliper 4 for pressing the pair of pads 2, 3 to the disc rotor 1 by fitting a cup-shaped piston 17 slidably into a bottomed cylinder 13, and driving the piston 17 by supplying hydraulic pressure to a hydraulic chamber 18, a fixed member 21 is arranged inside the piston 17 and a wedge mechanism 23 equipped with a roller 27 of a deformed cross section is arranged between a fixed member 21 and a variable member 22 fitted into the piston 17. The parking brake is activated by regulating a return of the piston 17 due to a wedging action of the roller 27, and the roller 27 is displaced by progressive movement of a variable retainer 22 connected to a plunger 35 of a latching type solenoid 34, to release the parking brake. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
