<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image display device that can prevent direct current from being applied to liquid crystal from being broken, resulting in burning phenomenon, that can obtain flicker-free image display of high quality with high resolution, and that has high reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device which is equipped with a spatial optical modulating element using liquid crystal and divides one frame (one screen) into 2i (i: natural number) subframes and displays the picture by the subframes on the spatial optical modulating element is equipped with a polarity-switching part which inverts the driving voltage polarities of respective pixels of the spatial optical modulating element by (j) subframes (j: natural number, and j<2i) and further inverts them by (n) frames (n: natural number). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
