<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing a mismatch of predicted images caused by the difference in calculation accuracy of motion vectors without complicating calculation, in a motion compensation system in which the entire pixels belonging to an identical patch are not limited to have common motion vectors, and the horizontal/vertical components of the motion vectors of the pixels can take any values other than integer multiples of the distance between neighboring pixels. <P>SOLUTION: The horizontal and vertical components of the motion vectors of each pixel for use in synthesizing the predicted images are specified so as to take only the values of integer multiples of 1/d1 and 1/d2 (where d1, d2 are positive integers) of the distance between the neighboring pixels, respectively. With this, the mismatch in the predicted images caused by the difference in the calculation accuracy of the motion vectors can be prevented with a simple calculation, which leads to the simplification of the processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
