<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media file management application that incorporates a browsing mechanism for searching a media file. <P>SOLUTION: A media management application implemented in a digital device that incorporates a speed browsing mechanism. The speed browsing mechanism provides for the speed of the browsing or scrolling function can be altered depending on the desire of the user. The speed browser can be configured by the user to browse for time periods, specific types of media files, annotated or bookmarked media files or any other user designated browse-able parameter. The speed browsing mechanism of the present invention provides the device user with a high efficient means of searching time periods and the media files associated with the time periods.
