PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating high concentration suspension water which can easily be installed as a pretreatment apparatus of the conventional treatment apparatus in the state of an extremely small loss water head, then can effectively realize a high turbidity peak cut, and has a simple configuration having a satisfactory floc formation/removal function, and to provide a method therefor. SOLUTION: In the method and the apparatus for treating high concentration suspension water, a first space that is formed as a net body on the lower side and a second space formed on the upper side are parted. Raw water containing fine flocs conditioned by a coagulant is introduced into the first space and, thereafter, the raw water is allowed to pass through the net body and is introduced to the second space. Sludge blanket as entangling assembly of coarse floc is produced in the second space and the excessive floc is discharged from the second space to the outside of a tank so as to keep the sludge blanket developed in accordance with the increase in cumulative flow quantity of raw water at a prescribed quantity or less.
