PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-purifying device or a water-purifying method, which can be seen as an alternative to a rapid filtration method and a slow filtration method, and which is easy to operate, can be fully-automated, and requires no operator to obtain safe and delicious purified water. SOLUTION: According to a two-stage fine sand filtering method with back washing, in a prestage, the filtration is carried out 30-200 m a day to remove about 50% of organic matter, and the majority of turbid materials. In the poststage, the filtration is carried out 10-75 m a day. A main object of the filtration in the poststage is a biolistic of the organic matter and foreign odor taste materials. According to the system, since the water purification can be carried out with chemical-free feed, both in the prestage and poststage, if an automatic back washing is carried out from a filtration head loss, a continuous operation is enabled, and a complete automation or an unattended operation is enabled.
