The device has a workpiece which can be rotatable in a horizontal direction with working elements (4) provided on a belt (1) and multiplicity elements extend to a flat working surface. The workpiece (8) has a conductible edge which can be worked on and the belt is transverse to the direction of rotational movement as well as being able to be tiltable. The working elements are actuated by the belt (1) or fastened to carrier borders (5).
