PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus by which satisfactory visible images can be obtained by preventing white streaks, etc., caused by soil on the surface of an image carrier, an intermediate transfer body, or a recording material conveying belt. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a toner image forming means for forming a toner image onto the image carrier, and a transfer means having a transfer roller for transferring the toner image on the image carrier onto a recording material, the transfer roller having an outermost layer containing abrasive fine particles. The image forming apparatus also includes a primary transfer means having a primary transfer roller for transferring the toner image formed on the image carrier onto the intermediate transfer body, and a secondary transfer means for transferring the toner image on the intermediate transfer body onto the recording material, the primary transfer roller having an outermost layer containing abrasive fine particles. The image forming apparatus further includes an image forming means for forming the toner image onto the image carrier, and a transfer means having a transfer roller for transferring the toner image onto the recording material conveyed by the recording material conveying belt which is endless, the transfer roller having an outermost layer containing abrasive fine particles.
