PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To check whether or not a suction state of ink and a nozzle for suction are correctly selected, in the suction of the ink. SOLUTION: This inkjet recording apparatus 100 is provided with: a carriage 2 which is equipped with a recording head and which moves in a direction orthogonal to the scanning direction of a recording medium; a suction capping mechanism 14 which is provided outside a recording area R of the nozzle and which covers an ejection port of the nozzle when the ink in the nozzle is sucked in; a suction mechanism 16 for sucking in the ink in the nozzle via the suction capping mechanism; a channel mechanism 18 which forms a channel for the ink by connecting the suction capping mechanism and the suction capping mechanism together; and a channel cover member 20 for covering at least the channel mechanism. The channel mechanism is constituted so that an ink flow can be visually recognized from the outside, and the channel cover member is provided with a channel visually-recognizing window part 21 through which the channel mechanism can be visually recognized.
