PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove a foreign article on a carriage shaft. SOLUTION: In a recording apparatus in which a recording head 20 is loaded on a carriage 21 that moves back and forth along the carriage shaft 31, and which records an image to a sheet transferred onto a platen by the recording head 20, a peripheral groove 61 is formed at a peripheral face of the carriage shaft 31 avoiding a maximum movement range R of the carriage 21 at the time of image recording.
