<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas diffusion electrode with a catalyst layer for manufacturing a catalyst layer/electrolyte film junction body endowed with both excellent hydrophilicity and water repellency. <P>SOLUTION: The gas diffusion electrode with a catalyst layer 1 has a permeating layer 2 for gas and liquid formed on one of its surfaces and a platinum-containing catalyst layer 5 formed on the permeating layer. The permeating layer has a hydrophilic region 3 and a water-repellent region 4. By arranging a gas diffusion electrode with a catalyst layer on either side of a solid electrolyte film and pressurizing it, a catalyst layer/electrolyte film junction body having both excellent hydrophilicity and water repellency. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
