PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interphone system hardly causing a difference among levels of speech signals even in the case of combining a plurality of kinds of interphone slave units. SOLUTION: The interphone system (comprising a master unit A and sub master units B1, B2) discriminates types of slave units C1, C2,... whose speech paths are formed and sets a gain of an amplifier 16c to a value proper to the types of the C1, C2,... on the basis of a result of the discrimination thereby adjusting a received signal from the slave unit C1 to a proper level.
