PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for electric double layer capacitor with which resolution of the electrolyte can sufficiently be suppressed even if it is used under high voltage without raising manufacturing cost, and a charging/discharging characteristic under a low temperature can be improved; and to provide the electric double layer capacitor using the electrolyte. SOLUTION: The electric double layer capacitor is provided with a pair of activated carbon electrodes and the organic electrolyte.
