VERTICAL MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a high density recording medium wherein signal output is heightened, noise is lowered, an S/N (a signal output-noise ratio) is enhanced, mass production can be attained by a simple manufacturing method and recording resolution is enhanced. SOLUTION: In the vertical magnetic recording medium, magnetic crystal grains of a magnetic recording layer are formed in a multilayered structure and in a shape similar to a so-called [truncated cone] wherein a crystal grain diameter of an end period layer on a film surface side corresponding to a film deposition end period is smaller than a crystal grain diameter of an initial layer on a substrate side corresponding to a film deposition initial period.
