PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect dirt of an optical disk apparatus used for an onboard apparatus. SOLUTION: In an apparatus main body 100 of the onboard apparatus having the optical disk apparatus 200 reading data stored in a medium 700 and the apparatus main body 100 obtaining data read from the optical disk apparatus 200, the following steps are performed: a step in which an accumulated value of a drive time of the apparatus for vehicle is measured, a step in which information about a read error is obtained from the optical disk apparatus, a step in which temperature of the inside of the apparatus for vehicle is detected, a step in which it is determined whether the obtained information relating to the read error is larger than the prescribed value or not, when it is larger than the prescribed value, it is determined whether temperature detected further is within a range of the prescribed temperature or not, and a step in which when detected temperature is within the prescribed temperature and the measured accumulated time exceeds the prescribed time, it is decided that the optical disk apparatus 200 is dirty.
