PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent impairing an aesthetic apperance of an installation place for an antenna exposed to the outside; to prevent incapability of reporting caused by damaged antenna due to prank. SOLUTION: A remote monitoring system for an elevator is provided with a remote reporting processing device 16 for instructing transmission operation to required telephone numbers and outputting abnormal status information including abnormal contents at the time of receiving the abnormal status including the abnormal contents from an elevator control panel. The system is also provided with a means for integrally incorporating the antenna 21 of a radio portable terminal 18 into an elevator equipment constituent body 5 installed at the place where the antenna is exposed outside an elevator hall in a form not to be recognized as an antenna. When the transmission operation is instructed by the remote reporting processing device 16, the radio portable terminal 18 establishes a radio communication channel with a monitoring center through the antenna and reports the abnormal status information including the abnormal contents transmitted from the remote reporting processing device to the monitoring center.
