PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively feed paper by eliminating catching or the like of a transfer sheet by a separating member. SOLUTION: This paper feeding device 1 separates transfer sheets stacked on a paper feeding tray, sheet by sheet to feed them with the cooperation of a paper feed roller 2 rotated by driving force transmitted from a predetermined driving part, and a separating member 4 provided to elastically press the inner peripheral surface of the paper feed roller. Both ends excluding a predetermined width part abutting on the paper feed roller, of the separating member 4 are positioned in a separating direction from the paper feed roller 2 rather than an abutting tangent 9. Both ends of the separating member 4 are set in positions separated by a predetermined amount from the tangent 9 by forming both ends of the separating member 4 in curved shape. Both ends of the separating member may be set in positions separated by the predetermined amount from the tangent 9 by forming both ends of the separating member in inclined shape.
